Architecture & the Built Environment

The association is named after, and operates from, the Jakab Toffler Palace, using architecture as a tool for community activation. We valorise the palace's inner courtyards as public space, treat housing as both physical fabric and social relation, and engage architects and students directly in the regeneration of the Fabric district.

Art, Residencies & Cultural Production

Art, Residencies & Cultural Production

The association's main engine for producing meaning is the Social Fabric residency programme, alongside a public cultural programme of exhibitions, film and debate, co-organised with Asociația Minitremu. We invite artists and researchers to work from within the community rather than about it from outside, keeping participation free and accessible.

Community & Social Cohesion

Community & Social Cohesion

The founding interest of the association: Casa Jakab Toffler began as an initiative of the building's tenants, aiming to generate new forms of social interaction between residents and the wider Fabric neighbourhood. We nurture a sense of belonging, strengthen bonds among micro-communities, and celebrate Fabric's everyday multi-ethnic cohabitation across difference.

Education & Community Workshops

Education & Community Workshops

Hands-on, participatory workshops for children, youth and adults are a recurring mode of work — learning-by-doing and co-creation in the palace courtyards and Piața Traian. From drawing, fanzines and craft to culinary workshops, yoga and community activation, we lower the threshold to participation through free activities open to all.

Heritage & Collective Memory

Heritage & Collective Memory

A constant aim across every project: preserving and valorising the material and immaterial heritage of the Fabric neighbourhood — its architecture, everyday life, disappearing social forms and collective memory. We document both buildings and rituals, capturing people and stories otherwise invisible, as a living archive of the district.

Nature & Urban Landscape

Nature & Urban Landscape

The association acts sustainably and with care for the natural and built environment, and the palace garden and courtyards are the literal and symbolic ground of this interest. We turn a private courtyard into public green space and understand urban nature — trees as living beings of the neighbourhood — as part of community life and heritage.

Sport & Civic Participation

Sport & Civic Participation

The association uses amateur football as a civic and democratic tool — a pretext to give residents a voice and to celebrate the neighbourhood, not a sporting competition. F.I.D. — "Football as Infrastructure for Democracy" — and the Fotbal în Traian tournament turn a grass pitch into a shared platform for encounter and belonging.
