About
Who we are
Casa Jakab Toffler is a cultural and community association in the Fabric district of Timișoara, operating from the Jakab Toffler Palace (Str. Constantin Titel Petrescu no. 4). It is not a hotel, guesthouse or restaurant, but a non-profit initiative of the building's residents.
Mission
We turn the palace's private courtyards into public cultural space, generating new forms of social interaction and valorising the tangible and intangible heritage of Fabric.
The palace & its courtyard
The palace's façades and courtyard were studied in detail through an architecture practice — surveys, 3D scanning and design proposals grounded in a precise reading of the historic building. On that basis, the courtyard is reimagined as a space open to the community: a garden planned around sun exposure, with modular, playful furniture inspired by puzzle games like Tetris and Tangram, recombinable for community meals, workshops and events. The garden also hosts a graphic-design micro-exhibit, the "Typo Garden", part of the Typo Passage TM network of venues.
