"Through this residency I wanted to capture the spirit of the Fabric district, to visually document the way the past coexists with the present, and to reflect on the interaction between urban space and the people who live in it," writes Oana Stoian. The photographs look for the stories hidden in the old architecture, in the shops, in the streets that tell the community's history, and in the small details that define the area.
The series sets modernity against tradition, decay against renovation, isolation against community. It follows the impact of time on the urban landscape, but also how people relate to it: a few residents appear in the images, alongside the intimate space of their homes. The result is an invitation to reflect on the district's identity and on how collective memory settles into everyday life — Fabric not merely as a geographical space, but as a living, evolving community.
Oana Stoian is an artist born in 1993 in Lugoj and currently based in Timișoara.
