Narrative Activity Report 2022
The chronicle of the first year of #social fabric activities at Casa Jakab Toffler: workshops, residencies, an architecture practice, concerts, film screenings and a football championship, in the palace courtyard and around Piața Traian.
Under the banners #social fabric and #făcute în fabric, Casa Jakab Toffler hosted an intense programme of cultural and community activities in Timișoara's Fabric district. The report gathers onto a shared timeline the workshops, screenings, concerts, residencies and sporting events held in the palace courtyard and the spaces around Piața Traian.
An important thread was the architecture practice, run over two weeks — documentation, survey and 3D scanning of the courtyard, followed by actual building, concluded with a Picnic Party — alongside a workshop guided by Laura Panait and Silviu Medeșan. The cultural programme included pencil, fanzine, yoga and noise workshops, Delikat Essen community meals, film screenings linked to One World Romania and Bloc Zero, as well as musical moments such as Rekabu und Sillyconductor's "Always a Party".
Casa Jakab Toffler also hosted several artistic and research residencies — among them those of Andrei Becheru, Bogdan Isopescu, Paul Breazu, Cătălin Matei, Sorina Vasilescu and Vlad Cadar — while the opening towards the community also came through events in Piața Traian: a football championship, a debate and a book launch. Together, these actions outline the House's mission to animate Fabric through a living dialogue between heritage, contemporary culture and community.
